Hello! My name is Katie and I am bird nerd! I love birds! I love to listen to them, watch them, I just love them. They are so cute and so neat. I try my best to make my yard a bird haven! A bird paradise and a little bird sanctuary. I also love photography!! Being behind the camera makes me so happy! Now I do not like taking pictures of people, just nature, animals and of course birds. Cameras, I love them! So, when I came across my first bird photo booth a few years ago, not only did I know I had to get one, but it started a new obsession with me. The idea of being able to put a camera out in front of a bowl of bird seed and walking away and coming back later to get the camera and have tons of pictures, up close pictures was just amazing! And the Bird Photo Booth 2.0 offered this. This is the OG bird camera, the start of it all. The camera before Ai!

It was nothing fancy. A little black or green utility box with two camera lens, the top being a macro, and a sports camera. The sport camera though chirped when it took a picture. I am not kidding. It’s cute. Now it did have wifi options and an app. But I could never get either one of those to work. Which was fine with me. This wasn’t a setup and be done with it setup. The camera was small and the battery was too, obviously. Which means it ran out of battery FAST! The first few times I used it, it ran out battery and was dead within a few hours of putting it out. I quickly discovered battery banks which were time savers! Depending on the size of the bank, they could stay charged for a couple of days, which meant you never had to charge the camera and it could stay out all day! And as you can guess, you had to put it out every day and bring it back in (just the camera) every night. Then go through the photos to see what was caught. It was the highlight of my night. I couldn’t wait to get the memory card to see what birds visited! There were days I would get 1000’s of photos! I started out with Photo Box but quickly grew my collection. I quickly found myself with quite a get up. I bought a few cheap tripods from Amazon, and battery banks. One of the good things about these photo booths is I can move them around my yard for different locations. Something you really can’t do with the new Ai, Wi-Fi connected feeders. This feeder I could put anywhere because I didn’t have to worry about not being close enough to get a signal. I could put it at my backdoor, or way in my back field. And move them around I did. Some time I put them on my tripods. Sometimes I hung them on posts. Sometimes I put them on the ground. Each and every time I got the neatest, pretties’ pictures and I was happy. I even updated the camera I used. Finding a sports camera with motion activation is hard though. They usually have video, but not picture. The camera that came with the Bird Photo Booth had both options. Finding a different camera that did the same was hard. But I did. The Gitup 2&3 offered both picture and video motion detection. And these little cameras were much better than the OG camera.
Sadly, with the uprising of Ai Wi-fi bird camera feeders the OG feeder slowly became less in demand and eventually went out of business. Which is sad, because I for one still like using mine, even though I have the Ai feeders. Do not get me wrong I love my Ai feeders. But there is just something about going out and finding that perfect place to set up, and then setting it up, and the wait, and then going and getting the camera and looking through the never before seen pictures. There is a thrill, it’s fun. It made me happy.
Anyway, here are some photos from OG feeder.
